I am so ebullient and euphoric to tell you something extraordinary…I had my very first book signing at school today! As many of you know, I wrote a book called Runaway Kite!: A Ludicrous Adventure, which is now available on Amazon, Kindle, and Barnes & Noble. Here’s how my big moment happened:
On Monday morning, I walked into class feeling like a queen. I was carrying a copy of my book to give to my teacher. When I handed it to her, she looked at me with excitement and asked:
“How would you like to have a book signing for your newly published story?”

If you ask me, that was probably the best thing I have ever heard in my entire life. And of course, I said yes—well… I kind of screamed it. My teacher could tell just how vivacious and thrilled I was. She told me to bring copies of my book so we could sell them—and that I would get to sign them!
When I got home, my teacher messaged my mom with the details. Together, we decided what to prepare for the big event. We bought smelly pencils and bookmarks, gold pens, printed cut-out bookmarks of my story, created reading certificates, and made purchase forms.
From Tuesday to Thursday, we designed and printed everything. My bookmarks, smelly pencils, and gold pens arrived, and we agreed that each book would cost four dollars.
Then came Friday—BOOK SIGNING DAY! YAY!
I woke up early, packed everything I needed, and brought eleven copies of my book to school. Before lunch, my teacher and I set up my signing table. We draped a white tablecloth over it, arranged my “About the Author” signs, displayed the books, bookmarks, pens, certificates, and order forms. It looked official—like a real author event!

After lunch, my teacher Mrs. Seguin read my book aloud to the class up to Chapter Five. By the time she stopped, five people wanted to buy my book. (They were all girls!) Unfortunately, everyone had forgotten their money, but they still pre-ordered the book by signing the forms. I told them to bring the forms back on Monday with their parents’ signatures and the payment.
To celebrate, we had cupcakes—originally meant for someone else’s birthday, but they magically turned into book-signing celebration cupcakes for me.
After school, when I got home, my parents surprised me with a Goddess Girls book and a bouquet of sunflowers.
It was an ecstatic week, and I truly proved to my classmates that you can accomplish great things—even in fifth grade. I hope my story inspires you and reminds you that you are never too young to follow a dream and turn it into a reality. Last but not the least Thank You Mrs. Seguin for always encouraging me and all the arrangements.
