Boom! I woke up with a start. A flash of greenish, bluish, and orange lightning lit up the sky outside. I hurried to the window and closed the curtains. “It’s probably nothing to worry about,” I thought, yawning as I sat back in bed.
When I looked again, my white Persian cat, Kat, was staring right at me — straight into my soul.
“AUGHHH!” I screamed.
“Hi,” Kat said.
“AAAAAAAAAAAA!” I yelled even louder. My. Cat. Just. Talked.
“Okay, okay! I get it. I scared you,” Kat said, rolling her eyes. “Geez, that’s the last time I ever talk. The last time I did, someone made my ears explode!” she muttered.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” I went again.
“Okay, bye! This is the last time I’ll ever stay in Screamsville! Boy, is it aaaaannnnnooooyyyiiinnngggg!” Kat sang as she trotted to the window.
She opened the shutter. I closed it. She opened it again. I closed it again. We went back and forth for what felt like ages. Finally, defeated, my persistent kitty gave up with a scowl.
