My Christmas Spirit Week
Last week, just before Winter Break, my school celebrated Deck the Halls Week. Since we only had four days of school, we were extra excited—especially for Thursday. (School ended on Thursday instead of Friday, with an early release at 1:30 p.m.!)
Here’s how my festive week went:
🎅 MONDAY – Christmas Accessories Day
On Monday, we had to accessorize ourselves with everything Christmasy we could find at home. I wore a red Tommy Hilfiger shirt with a gold T & H emblem, blue jeans, and a light-up Christmas tree headband. I added a Christmas necklace and earrings from GirlsCrew.
In addition to that, I wore a jingle bell chain that I got during a winter concert when I was in preschool.
When I reached school, my teacher was wearing a similar headband—just like mine! At recess, my friends and I played charades, guessing which Christmas item someone was acting out. Everyone looked so festive, and we had a really fun time in our Christmasy outfits.

🎄 TUESDAY – Christmas Colors Day
On Tuesday, we had to wear Christmas colors. I wore a Snoopy shirt with red pants and my jingle bell necklace again. I had an ornament earring on one side and a candy cane on the other, plus a Christmas bracelet from GirlsCrew.
Our teacher was absent that day, so we had a substitute. We did a scavenger hunt called “What’s in Santa’s Sack?” There were lots of clues posted around the room, and we had to figure out which toy they described. It was really fun, although it would’ve been even better if we’d done it with our regular teacher.

🧝 WEDNESDAY – Dress-Up Day (Elf Day!)
Wednesday was dress-up day, and my grade was chosen to dress like elves. I wore an elf costume, an elf hat, and—of course—my jingle bell necklace.
When I arrived at school, my teacher greeted me and surprised us with the news that we were having a holiday party!
She had ingredients for hot cocoa with toppings, and Starbucks donated cups, lids, and hot water. That gave us something to brag about—not every class gets Starbucks! I had hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. While we drank it, the eighth-grade choir came in to sing Christmas carols. It was so angelic and really filled the room with Christmas spirit.
For music class, I was relieved that I didn’t have to lug my huge cello, because we were told to bring our Chromebooks instead. We played Blooket and watched a Christmas movie about Donald Duck, who wants to celebrate Christmas instead of migrating with Daisy. He stays home with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.
After lunch, the holiday party continued! We had caramel popcorn (popped in coconut oil), pretzels, Oreo candy canes, Oreos, Ritz crackers, veggies with ranch, chips, and mini candy canes. We made clay sculptures and melty bead crafts, which our teacher melted using an iron.
I made a turtle out of clay and created Rumi and Mira from K-Pop Demon Hunters using melty beads. After my turtle dried, I glazed it with Mod Podge and wrapped it as a gift for my mom.
It was an absolutely spectacular day.

😴 THURSDAY – Pajama Day
On Thursday, we had to wear pajamas. I wore a Grinch PJ set, and my teacher told me her youngest daughter has the same ones! My P.E. teacher said she tried to get them in her size, but they were sold out everywhere.
After P.E., we moved our desks to the corner and found cozy spots around the classroom. My teacher played Rise of the Guardians, while another class watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The class next door was watching The Muppets.
I switched between classrooms for a bit, watching parts of each movie, then helped organize flashlights. Later, I sat next to my teacher and worked on Khan Academy with a friend.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing like that. When the bell rang, we said our goodbyes, and a few friends and I even exchanged phone numbers.
✨ Final Thoughts
Deck the Halls Week truly celebrated the Christmas spirit. Everything my teacher planned made the week SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! I’m full of jollification that I got to share this experience with you—and maybe it can inspire your school or even your family’s holiday traditions. 🎄💫
