Halloween Spirit Week Adventures, Adventures with Anahita, Questa Elementary School

Last week, our school celebrated Halloween in the most Questa way possible—with a full week of themed spirit days! Every day brought something new to dress up for, from Disney characters to cozy pajamas. It was thrilling to see the creativity of my classmates, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Monday was ‘All Disney Day’. We dressed from head to toe in Disney outfits, and had a fun time having others guess what Disney character we went to school as. I went as Stitch, wearing a Stitch hoodie, blue pants, blue shoes and a Cinderella Disney Mickey Mouse ear headband. We spent the whole day acting like our characters, and since there were multiple Stitches, we were all saying Stitch catchphrases like ‘”Meega, nala kwishta’ and ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.’ It was funny, and we all made purrr-fect Stitch voices!

Tuesday was ‘Dress up all Halloween day’. We dressed up in Halloween colors, such as purple, green, jack-o-lantern orange, regular orange and other gorey colors. I put in purple hair tinsels, wore an orange sweater, black pants and purple shoes. My teacher, another classmate and I were wearing the same combination and the same colors on the same clothes. We took a picture together and had a lot of fun!

On Wednesday, we wore pink for pink out day. I wore pink earrings, pink hair  tinsel, a pink sweater and pink pants, paired with hot pink high top sneakers. I also wore a pink jacket, to have a complete chic outfit. Our whole class wore at least one thing pink, so our teacher was very happy. We had an amazing time, learning in our spotless outfits!

Thursday was pajama day. We wore our PJ’s and our teacher allowed us to bring juice, popcorn, blankets, sleeping bags, stuffies, toys and games. After morning P.E, we moved all the chairs and tables into corners, and we made blanket forts to snuggle with our friends in. I didn’t have to help out because I was in the MPR, entering my pumpkin decorated as an unicorn, Ms. SparkleHorn in our school’s pumpkin decorating contest. The day was split into 2 different sections.

Part A of the day was playing in the light. Part B of the day was to play in the pitch dark. Me and my friends ate popcorn, talked about rollie pollies (me and this specific friend group were known for knowledge on rollie pollies), and played chess in Part A of the day.

In Part B of the day, we made lanterns out of our flashlights and cups, played a game where I was a famous fortune teller, Monsieur RuberDooky after making a crystal ball, reading with flashlights, hide and seek and potionary. During this time, a few of my classmates were in the gallery, working on our pumpkin to enter in our school’s pumpkin decorating contest. We made a half infected half normal minion named Min Yang. Then we invited another class over and watched a science documentary about interstellar space.

Friday was Halloween. I was dressed as Addison Rosiland Wells, Part one cheerleader. My costume was adorned with gems and sparkles. After our Halloween parade, 4 of my classmates, 2 inflatable dinos, 1 inflatable gorilla(yes it was a girl who had that costume) and an inflatable rubber ducky rider(in my opinion, the cutest costume), lined up for a race. Since I was a cheerleader, I was cheering in that race. Then, the little kids came over for trick or treating. I did cheers like

♪♩. After that, we went into the classroom and watched Hotel Transylvania, summer vacation on Netflix. Our fun was interrupted with a sad announcement about the pumpkin decorating contest. Neither my class’s pumpkin nor my pumpkin won. But even though that happened, I will still try to win next time. During lunch, we ate in the dark, with scary music, constant jumpscares and flickers of the lights. When we came back into the classroom, we had free time till 1:30(the time we are dismissed on Fridays). After school, me and a couple of friends met at the school for trick or treating. We stopped by many houses and finally returned home.

My house was covered in inflatable aliens, an arch, weird pumpkins and so many lights. We even had a speaker playing Alien Invasion from Z-O-m-b-i-e-s 4.

The house next to ours was playing K-Pop Demon Hunters, and had a spooky set up. One house even had a Bluey inflatable, Mum as a mummy, Dad as a pirate, Bingo as a witch and Bluey as a vampire. The house 2 blocks from us had the same thing as they do every year-a game where you get 3 eyeballs to try and throw into a cup with an assortment of prizes depending on how many eyes you get in. My friend and I tried but left empty handed, while her cousin, who is only 6, got all the eyes into the cup and got a goodie bag. When I was passing out candy at home, I realized that we had run out of candy, so I gave out erasers shaped like emojis, sports balls and fruits. I was surprised that so many kids and parents were satisfied with the erasers rather than candy. They seemed less disappointed and more happy. At 9:00, we turned off our speakers, lights and inflatables.

This was a fun experience, and I hope that this was something you could suggest to your school, and I feel like this spirit week was the best way to celebrate Halloween! I am looking forward to the next Halloween!!!
